CHOOSE YOURTRAINING
Integrated Training
All-in-one course taking you from 0-airline ready with one school providing your entire training course.
Integrated Training
Integrated training involves training at one flight school for the entirety of your training, this comes with some clear pros and cons as laid out below:
Reasons For:
- Simplicity - Most of the admin is covered by the school you train with allowing you to focus more on your training and less on the logistics.
- Convenience - You make one decision at the start of your training about where you train and then you stick with that throughout rather than making a new decision for each module.
Reasons Against:
- Price - training prices typically cost £100,000+ and require payment upfront or in large installments.
- Flexibility - This pathway typically requires full time commitment, meaning there is minimal room for working and earning money alongside as well as tending to other personal commitments.
- Risk - As you are paying in large installments at the start of your training, if the schools goes ‘bust’ or you wish to change schools, this can often lead to unrecovered funds and disputes between you, the student, and the flight school you are training with.
Recommended for students whose finances are not an issue, full-time commitment is not an issue and have a strong preference for simplicity, structure and convenience.
Modular Training
Course that takes you from 0-airline ready where you are able to train at different schools for different modules, this route is more independent and has more scope for flexibility.
Modular Training
Modular training involves completing each module step by step with more flexibility to choose what schools work best for you for each module and with a pay-as-you-go structure. Often students will change schools from module to module due to differences in price, timeline, aircraft, availability, etc…
Reasons For:
- Affordability - Modular training provides a pathway which can be a lot more affordable as you can be more savvy choosing schools that are right for each module. This route also allows you to pay as you go, allowing you to train at a pace that works for you financially.
- Flexibility - With modular training you can take things at your own pace if you need, allowing you to train alongside work or other commitments. It is NOT slower by default and can be done just as fast as integrated if you plan correctly.
- Lower Financial risk - Since you are paying as you go through your training, if you want to leave a school or they go ‘bust’ you are able to pack your bags and leave, meaning you can stay in control of your finances.
Reasons Against:
- Less Support - With modular training you often receive a lot less support especially in terms of administrative tasks and logistics.
- Scope For Error - One problem with modular training is there are a lot of schools (well over 1000 across the UK and Europe). Flight schools can vary a lot in terms of costs, timeline, instructor availability, aircraft, quality, etc… often students plan poorly and end up taking a less optimal route and spending a lot more time/money.
Recommended for students who wish to complete training in a more cost effective way and are willing to devote more time to the administrative and logistical side of their training.
Airline Cadet Schemes
Integrated Style Training Directly With An Airline Which Provides Sponsorship And Conditional Job Offer.
Airline Cadet Schemes
Airline Cadet schemes offer integrated training through an Airline specific course, this involves a competitive selection process allowing you sponsorship and a conditional job offer.
Reasons For:
- Sponsored - Most airline cadet schemes are sponsored, meaning your training costs are fully paid for, it is important to note you typically are required to pay for living expenses.
- Conditional job offer - When training through an airline cadet scheme you are usually provided a conditional job offer, meaning if you pass everything you will have a job at the end of your training.
Reasons Against:
- Highly competitive - As these courses are sponsored there are a lot of applicants, often with acceptance rates of less than 1% meaning it is by no means a guarantee.
- No flexibility - Just like integrated training you are typically required to train full time, meaning you will be unable to work and tend to other commitments whilst you are undertaking your training.
Recommended for everyone to apply if you are eligible, but to be aware that it is highly competitive and not to delay your training in the hope of securing a space with the relevant airline.
Mentored Modular was founded on the realisation that you’re able to access the best of integrated and modular.
We provide the best of both worlds, ensuring that you can access a route that suits you and your budget whilst maintaining consistent support throughout your entire training. We typically save students £30,000 over the course of their training through tried and tested methods.
